BOYS CLUB TRYOUT OVERVIEW

Ignite tryouts are two days, so players have the best chance to showcase their talent, and coaches can adequately evaluate each player.

Day 1: players are divided by position, evaluated on their individual skills, then brought together for group play.  Day 2 includes 6v6 team play.  Players may be offered a spot on day 1 or day 2 and may verbally commit to an Ignite Club Team, but must return on Day 2 (Sunday) or Commitment Day to officially accept and sign.

Tryout Fee is $30 and all players must register online. Please use the age definitions below to choose the correct division. Generally age divisions follow grade but please verify your players birthdate below.

August 26 @ 5-8PM: Commitment Night and Uniform Fitting
All players who accept team offers need to attend. One parent/guardian should plan to attend to complete forms, registration, and payment. If committing players do ALL of their fitting, forms, registration and payment on Day 2 of Tryouts, they do not need to attend Commitment Night.

Before registering, please review the age chart below to determine the correct division for your player. They should attend according to their age as defined on the chart.

CLUB PRICES

Ignite aims to maximize the player and family experience while ensuring exceptional value for our pricing. As a non-profit organization, we are committed to offering a high-quality, sustainable volleyball environment at a reasonable cost.

THE IGNITE VALUE…SOME OF THE ADDED BENEFITS AT IGNITE VOLLEYBALL:

  1. Ignite is a Gold Medal Squared Certified Volleyball Club - players receive excellent training from Coaches trained in GMS techniques. GMS has some of the top volleyball minds with proven techniques used with the USA National team and at top colleges in the country.

  2. Our Gym - Ignite has its own facility in a great location in the Chino area.

  3. Coaches - Our coaches bring experience and expertise at the club level but many also have high school and collegiate coaching backgrounds. Our coaches are committed to a competitive but friendly culture.

  4. Assistant Coaches - Boys players on National, Elite and Select teams will have assistant coaches. It's our commitment to getting more eyes on players for coaching and feedback.

  5. Workouts Included - Strength training, vertical jump, agility, injury prevention workouts all included for 13u and older National and Premier teams.

  6. NCSA Recruiting Accounts - are already included in the fees for all 15u and older teams. This assists them in learning about potential colleges, communicating with coaches (subject to NCAA rules) and setting up a profile page that includes videos, key stats and more. We're big on college and helping players that are college-bound to find a good fit and explore their opportunities to play.

COST

Cost will average $3,900 - $4,100 depending on the team. Factors include number of practices per week, travel tournaments and added value features. (See above for all that's included for our players).  Final Pricing for each team will be available at tryouts.

UNIFORM FEES

Uniform fees are additional and not included in the Club Fees. For 24-25, they will range between $365-565. Our packages include: backpack, jerseys, warm-ups, Slunks shorts, practice shirts, knee pads, socks, and shoes. We partner with Eclectic Printing and are proudly sponsored by Mizuno, the official sponsor of USA Volleyball and the Paris '24 Olympics.  Together, we offer quality, customized packages that include everything our players need to look and perform their best.

AFFORDING  CLUB VOLLEYBALL

Ignite recognizes the rising costs of club sports.  We work diligently to provide the best value while keeping costs set as much as possible. In addition, here are two ways that Ignite helps you with costs:

  1. Discounts for early payment

  2. Scholarships: The Ignite Play it Forward Foundation provides financial assistance to athletes and families that apply and demonstrate financial need. Last year we provided over $75,000 in scholarship.   It doesn't matter if you're playing on a "1's" team or a "3's" team, we want to help you participate. Click here to complete the scholarship application.  If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to our Scholarship Program  click here and we will be happy to assist.

WHY CHOOSE IGNITE?

We recognize there are a lot of choices when it comes to club volleyball.  Finding the right "fit"  for players and families is important. Here are some of the top reasons to play for Ignite:

1. WE ARE A GOLD MEDAL SQUARED CERTIFIED CLUB

Ignite has partnered with arguably the best volleyball instruction available. GMS coaches are at the highest levels collegiately and internationally. Ignite takes Gold Medal principals and their coaching technique to provide solid fundamental and advanced training. Club coaches are trained by GMS staff.

2. IGNITE IS A VALUE-DRIVEN, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION

Our mission is the development of players and a volleyball organization with value-driven goals.  We provide a large number of scholarships and any "profits" are put back into the organization and into the players. Ignite is led by a board and directors with decades of experience running non-profits. You can be sure that policies and decisions are intentional and try to balance the needs of the organization and all its members. We care about our players and our families and strive to provide the best, sustainable volleyball experience and environment.

3. COLLEGE RECRUITING

Ignite helps every player that wants to compete at the next level. Although there are a limited number of Division 1 Men’s collegiate options in the United States, there are growing opportunities at the Division 2, 3, NAIA, Junior College, and Collegiate Club levels. We want our players to know that  It's a great opportunity for juniors to play beyond High School while receiving a solid education. Not only are our club directors and our coaches involved in recruiting, but Ignite has partnered with both NCSA and Volleyball Live Recruiting to: a) inform families on the recruiting process; b) develop personalized strategies; and c) give access to the best platforms for getting noticed by college coaches.

Every 15u and older team will be given an NCSA account and access to our club recruiter. Together we provide the best education and athletic matches to increase your chances of playing at the next level. Whether that's at a JC, D3, NAIA, D2 or D1 school, Ignite is committed to helping each and every player that wants to go to the next level.

4. COMPETITIVE BUT NURTURING ENVIRONMENT

Our coaches know volleyball, but they also care about each player. It’s a unique combination that makes us special. In a world that can be lacking in role models, our coaches are mentors who are personally invested in their development as players and people. Our coaches maturely speak to players and motivate them through frank conversations, encouragement, competition, and feedback. As an organization, we do not tolerate "screaming" at teammates, manipulation, or unhealthy coaching styles, which are, unfortunately, very prevalent among coaches. Ignite coaches use positive coaching techniques to get positive results.

5. OUR OWN GYM / LOCATION

Yes, we have our own gym,  which means we set our own schedules, and there are no last-minute cancellations or court conflicts with schools or other community organizations.  In addition, our own gym means you have access to other programs outside of practice times. Get extra individual reps or schedule private lessons--that's all because we have our own place.  In addition, Ignite is  centrally located in the Chino Valley just minutes from Chino/Chino Hills, and within 15-30 minutes of the many surrounding communities like: Eastvale, Ontario, Diamond Bar, Pomona, Corona, Mira Loma, Upland, Norco, Fontana, Montclair, Walnut, San Dimas, Rancho Cucamonga, Glendora, Riverside,  Rialto, San Bernardino, Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, and more.

6. COMPETITIVELY PRICED, GREAT VALUE

At 10-20% less than the “bigger clubs” we believe in providing the best value. When considering what Ignite offers: the number of practices, local & travel tournaments, trainer workouts, assistant coaches, college recruiting, and specialized instruction, we believe in providing the best return on your investment of time, effort, and money.

7. NOT TOO BIG, NOT TO SMALL ... BUT JUST RIGHT

Ignite is not too big, where people get "lost" among all the players in the gym ... and not too small to attract talented athletes. It's a perfect size to connect with other players and families while creating a competitive feel. Best of all, you have personal access to the director, administrative staff, and coaches.

Ignite's Mission

To teach volleyball and better the community, while developing leadership qualities and players that are self-advocating and character-driven, raising the level of volleyball and the positive coaching culture in the Inland Valley. We further exist to assist players who desire an education and athletics at the collegiate level.

TEAM DESCRIPTIONS

Ignite strives to provide all levels of players, from beginners to experienced athletes, with an opportunity to compete in club volleyball. We design our teams to provide the best experience for each level:

15-18U BOYS TEAMS

NATIONAL or PREMIER : Our highest level of team.  These teams may travel multiple times during the season. Practices are generally 3 times/week and include conditioning/strength training sessions. They compete in local SoCal Cup tournaments,  AAU Qualifiers and a year-end tournament (USAV Junior Nationals or AAU Nationals)

ELITE:  Plays at a high competitive level and attends 1-2 travel tournaments during the season. Practices are 2 times per week, with the option to sign up for conditioning/strength training at an additional cost. They play in local SoCal Cup tournaments, qualifiers and can opt into attending a year-end tournament (USAV Junior Nationals or AAU Nationals)

12-14U BOYS

NATIONAL and PREMIER: These teams travel 1-2 times during the season. Practices are generally 2-3 times/week and include conditioning/strength training sessions (for 13's & 14's). They compete in local SoCal Cup tournaments, Qualifiers and a travel year-end tournament (USAV Junior Nationals or AAU Nationals)

ELITE:  Practices are 2 times per week. They play in local SCVA tournaments and can opt into attending a year-end tournament  (USAV Junior Nationals or AAU Nationals).

Schedules are subject to change based on SCVA, USA Volleyball, AAU, JVA, or at the determination of Ignite coaches, teams and admin.

Team Placement: At tryout registration, you will be asked to indicate your 1st and 2nd preferences for a team.  We work hard to balance the team's needs while considering player preferences whenever possible.

Team placement ultimately depends on several factors including the number of players trying out, available spots, etc. We cannot guarantee how many teams we will have and how many spots will be offered.

2026 SPRING/SUMMER SEASON

Each year there is a pause in the club season for the 15-18U Age Groups for the February-April High School Season. After the high school season concludes in April, the 15-18U age groups start back up their club season. Some teams may be looking to add to their roster and some clubs may make entirely new teams for this second portion of the season. Information about the 2026 Spring/Summer Season will be released closer to the dates, but you can find general information below!

SEASON PREVIEW

Teams compete in SoCal Cup Tournaments and Featured Events.

  • Practices begin the week following tryouts. The season ends at the SoCal Cup Showcase for all teams not participating in an end of year National Tournament
