Club volleyball is one of the premier sports for girls ages 10-18. It is growing throughout the United States and around the world, with some of the most elite athletes competing in Southern California. Players learn skills, teamwork, the value of competition and push to be the best version of themselves on and off the court.
Ignite's philosophy is simple... we teach the game and we use it to teach about life. As a Gold Medal Squared certified club, we incorporate the most proven teaching methods with our club teams. As a non-profit organization, we help kids get to college and use the competitive nature of volleyball as character building opportunities, mentoring our players. This is the "Ignite Way" and we believe it help us succeed in the most important ways.
The club volleyball season has tryouts in August (15u-18u) and October (12u-14u). For our younger teams, practices begin the first week in November and 15-18u teams begin practice late November or early December. Practices are 2, 2.5* or 3 times per week depending on the team and competition level.
Competition comes in two forms: a) So. Cal Match Days (called qualifiers and mandatories); b) Travel Tournaments (typically 2-4 days in a row).
So. Cal Match Days are with the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) and are typically every 3-4 weeks. Teams will be assigned a pool of 3-5 teams and will compete throughout the day until the pools are complete. An example of this would be playing in a 4-team pool, starting at 8AM and ending at 2pm. Pools are generally Saturday or Sunday morning, however some pools may start Saturday afternoon.
Travel Tournaments vary from team to team with as little as 1 tournament per year or as many as 4. Most travel tournaments are within driving distance (i.e. - Las Vegas, Phoenix, Reno). However a few of our top teams may travel to Colorado, Texas or Florida for National Competitions. Travel Tournaments are typically spread throughout the year and may start as early as February, with the bulk of travel April thru late June.
The club season ends for each team with a final "travel tournament" to wrap up the season.
